Love the garage journal. Plasma cutter group buy from China for ~$250. Very neat.

Thanks for the link. One of my long term want/needs. I'm always leery of low cost off-shore tools, particularly anything as complex as a plasma torch. But for the price, and the very occasional use it'd see in my shop it's looking pretty attractive.

Here's the original review.
Cheapest ebay plasma cutter review - The Garage Journal Board
I'll give you that, quality often pays. But at the cost of a nice plasma cutter, I'd not see the sense in it. I have a good welder, and yes, it has paid off. But a plasma cutter, while nice, will not be used too often. This model usually goes for $350-400 on ebay, so this is a pretty decent deal. The HF model is also rated pretty well by many.
If this unit I pick up turns into something I like/use more often than I expect, I'll be looking at a Thermal Arc 3-in-1 Tiq machine. That would be something I'd love to have.
I only find myself using the welder 2-3 times a month, so its not a high use tool. My impact, which cost about 1/2 the price, I use a few times to a few dozen times a day, depending on. The welder I have is a 220v Miller mid range mig unit. Before Buying it, I took a welding class, I borrowed a few welders from others, and found it to be something I enjoyed/wanted to do more of.
With this P-cutter, it will be getting my feet wet to see if its a tool I want in the long term. We used a nice miller in school but I don't remember going for it over any other cutting tools in the shop very often. Great for thick plate, though.

You can always try to email him but I'm guessing you missed out. You may find some for sale in the GJ classifieds, but my recomendation is to never, EVER go there. You will be broke forever after you enter. So many awesome tools. And you need every last one.
Let me find out what I'm doing with my spare one, I had a few people interested, just not sure yet.
