Mr. Miyagi's Upgrades

I eliminated the EGR valve & spacer yesterday & replaced it with a much thinner piece from Steeda http://www.jegs.com/i/Steeda/957/555...oductId=962844. Now the intake tubing is too short. A free section of used 3.5" exhaust tubing from the local muffler shop will work out fine.

Who has a dead battery? This guy! Was able to order a new Optima 9020-164 from Summit for $139.74 after they price-matched another seller who was selling the old part# 8020-164.

TBone, your engine compartment is a thing of beauty. Great workmanship, attention to detail, thoughtful engineering, and clean fabricating touches. It's about more than bolting on the latest go-fast hardware; this is a true expression of the car crafter's art. Personally, I'd rather own a car with this level of craftsmanship than an average example with 100 extra HP...except that's a poor analogy, 'cause yours has that, too!
I can see where this would really help stiffen up the drivetrain mounting. I'm curious, did you notice any increase in noise/harshness/vibration with this direct, rigid attachment to the passenger compartment floorboard?

Thanks! My new battery showed up Tuesday as well as another idler pulley for the Kenne Bell. Maybe I can get it running today.

Check out the install instructions it's only about 6 inches deep. Looks great though!!
Front end lightness at speed is easy to fix but you probably have never used it. You know that center pedal??

I made an aluminum pan that extends from the front bumper to the lower radiator support.

No new updates. I have been busy working on my garage, & Mr. Miyagi got put on the back burner. After I get my lift installed I can finish up the plumbing of the water/meth kit.

I moved Mr. Miyagi today & noticed, according to the oil change due sticker on the windshield, that I have put 2100 miles on him since November 2010. I guess I should drive him more often. So I did. Looks like I will need to do some Exhaust work because one of the converters is rattling badly. Time for a set of cutouts.

I was able to fix the exhaust rattle by removing the contents of the converters. I finally got to take the car for a drive this week after charging up the battery ( it has been sitting on one of the lifts since I painted the garage floor in March). I kind of like the new exhaust note. It still has that raspy sound on acceleration, but now it has popping sound on deceleration. Hopefully I will get some free time to finish up the rest of the stuff on this car in the next few years. The weather is finally starting to cool off so I can enjoy my "winter car".

Just thought I would give some feedback on the transmission crossmember modification that I did a few years ago. This is the simple installation of a bolt installed through the crossmember & passenger side floorboard (I have pictures of it in a previous post). Well, it worked out great. I could tell a large difference in the way the car feels (less bouncy) & drives. No NVH concerns noted. If you have not done this mod to your car, you should.

Here is the picture of the pan that I made to fill in the area between the front bumper/splitter & the bottom of the radiator/core support. Sorry that it only took two and a half years to post it.

I found one of these kits to to extend my EEC IV harness. It is Rotunda part# 007-00081. I am going to use it also as an adapter for when I swap in the SN95 computer. I will be able to do all of my pin swaps within this harness.

Rotunda goodies
tbone-- happy to see some one else discover these Rotunda goodies, I picked up my cables and breakout box 15 years ago at an auction, breakout box is a great conversation piece hanging on the shop wall. I picked up 85 separate Rotunda service cases with F0RD service tools, Best score was the above cables,( female used in a megasquirt project), 7.5 / 8.8 service tools, Lincoln DOHC service tools, and lots of other sweet goodies the F0RD techs get to play with. all for $200 at an auction. I even sold all the auto transmission service plates to a tranny shop for $300, was a great deal. lol.
Car looks sweet, thanks for the shared info. Looking to do a splitter myself but thinking of tying it in farther back onto the front cradle, possibly stealing BMW's cruciform idea to tie the front suspension pickup points. Why not have two annoying cars to work on, LOL.
appreciate the great info
