gt 40 intake
#3
All GT40 lower intakes from Explorers will have no hole for the air temp sensor. However, the early ones (the ones with EGR passages) will have a place cast into the #5 intake runner where it can be drilled and tapped (I think it's a 3/4 NPT). The later ones have no such provision but (supposedly) can still be drilled and tapped in that location. I'd be very careful though as the casting may be on the thin side. You're better with an early one.
Good luck,

I have the same setup issue! For now my sensor is just sitting on top of the lower intake which is why I think I have random idle issues. My lower does have the spot where it can be drilled and tapped so I guess that is next on my list.

Followers of Mazda's RX-8 sports coupe are upset, as the only sports car from that brand with more than 200 horsepower has gone the clear way of the dodo. However, Mazda Motors supporters can take heart, as the manufacturer is weighing whether to put the 205-horsepower MX-5 Miata GT into production. Production run of MX-5 Miata GT mulled by Mazda. Mazda is well aware of that and have created a number of one-off editions of the Miata, usually for show purposes. Whether or not the GT-5 makes it to production remains to be seen, but a tuned up special edition could be a lot of fun.
