Does his kit require welding or any major modification of engine bay/trans tunnel?

No, i think the only cutting you have to do is the gussets in the rear of the engine bay.

The only required welding is a torque mount (basically a 1/4 inch plate of steel with some coupler nuts welded into it) to the front of the rear subframe. The whole rear subframe can be removed from the car, the new rear mounted in it and taken to any place that will weld it in the back of a pickup or even a largish car trunk. Martin actually suggests just clamping the plate in place and having your exhaust guy weld it when he does the exhaust.

If you are undecided as to buying Martin's kit or not, give him a call and just buy his instruction manual (which he will sell separately). Even if you decide not to buy his kit, the manual is a very good buy. It will give you a good idea of what you are up against and will give you a general guideline of the procedure.
