Could this be my next car?

Could this be my next car?
After years of owning several different muscle cars, I decided to sell my 1969 Camaro. As you can imagine, my empty garage has me craving for another hotrod. I've always liked the idea of a "sleeper", but could never find the right combo. Last night I was once again surfing on craigslist when by accident came across a ls1 Miata. I was surprised that I've never seen or heard of such a combo. After watching several youtube videos, I began to envision myself owning this car. Because I do not own a Miata, would it be best to purchase with the conversion already done? If I go this route, what advice do you have. It will be street driven with minimal track racing. Thanks for your input. Todd

If you are looking to buy pre-built, do so with one holding a lot of documentation. I've purchased modded cars in the past, and it was a real headache trying to figure out what all was done exactly (both good and bad)
If you are looking to build your own car, buy the cleanest one you can find. Rust SUCKS, and it can kill your enthusiasm in a heartbeat working on these older Jap cars. I paid a premium for mine because it had zero rust on it. It made the swap 10 times easier. Hard top already on saves a bit of money, and so does one with a roll bar and decent suspension.

Cartech full custom exhaust with spintechs. Jic full coilover suspension with flying miata sway bar package. Chassis has been done poly bushings throughout. Wide body fenders front and rear.... only set of ccw custom made wheels for a miata 17/9 and 17/10. 3" radiator dual fans. Racing beat front bumper and roll bar. Cobra seats with clean interior and top with glass. Gushes all work and car runs great. 8.09 in the 1/8th first time out on street tires.I drove it to Scottsdale and back 2 months ago with no issues other then a 90mph speeding ticket. I have recently walked way from new Camaro ss c5 vette and a gt500.... make me a reasonable offer. Paint could be done to be perfect but look at the pics it looks great still.
Documentation of complete build with 2" binder full of receipts and pictures. Less then 10k miles on complete build. Over 20k in parts. Sorry for mispellngs as I did this on my cell pm me what you think and look at my pics to see car.

Lots of people start this project not a big number finish. It does take some real effort and the biggies are, time and money. I had retired and had a 3 car garage to work in so that was great. I would have gone with the LS3 crate motor if I was to do it over. I have a 6.0L that I built form a truck LY6 and it is great but if you go low cost you may have more problems to solve as old parts can be just to worn out. I'd say to do it again with a car and 25-30k it is really a fun project. Google was my best friend as there is alot of info out there when you get stuck.
My suggestion is a 1999 NB or newer car, a LS motor and t-56 trans with the 8.8 rear. It's heavy duty and ddrives on the road great.
Good Luck
