Getting Started
Hey Guys! My name is Cody and I am from Southeast Oklahoma. I have been doing tons of research on the V8 swap and have decided to take the plunge! I know basic stuff about cars and can do most of the work. My brother has a welder and knows his cars. I have believe that we will be able to weld our own trans mount but I am doubtful about the motor mounts. What motor mount do yall recommend? I am picking the car up this weekend. It is a 1994 with no working motor. For $800. I am more than likely going to do a 5.3. Possibly 4.8 but pretty set on 5.3. Trans will be a T56 UNLESS I come across a good deal on a 4l60e with a stall etc. already installed. The car will be used as a "toy." Not much daily driving. Not much need for a/c and such. What do you guys think? Also I am trying to keep it around $10,000. Call me crazy but is that possible? Thanks!

Welcome and what a great outlook you have! Low buck DIY you are a man after my own heart!!
Yes if you do an iron block and weld the trans and diff mount I think you can do it for 10K. You'll have to be careful of course but so does anyone on a budget.
I'm really looking forward to seeing the car and your build Cody! I wonder how far you are from 777 in NE Oklahoma.
