Been lurking around, mostly asking questions and browsing really. I have a 1997 miata that ive had for about a year. it was 100% stock when i got it, now it has quite a few mods visually, but i have done nothign to the drivetrain yet. I kept kicking around the idea for turbo, lsx swap, or ford 5.0 swap. i really wanted to do the ford 5.0 swap since 5.0s are badass and sound alot better than lsx cars. so after thinking about it for awhile, i realized i couldnt do a 5.0 swap in my 97 because of emission standards. i dont live with emissions now, but i am in the military and i am sure i will live with emissions eventually. So i decided to think about turbo for my 97. Here is a picture of my Miata.
So that is my turbo project. by the time i am done my projected goal is 230hp to the rear wheels.
BUT, here is the reason i am on the v8miata.net. i managed to find a 95 stripped miata shell with a clean title, no rust, and no damage at all. my original plan was to swap everything from my 97 to the 95 for the ODB-I emission standards so i can turbo with no problems. but then my cousin gave the the idea to just 5.0 the 95 since it has ODB-I standards. so ive decided to go that route. so ive got a 97 turbo project and a 95 5.0 project. my goal for the 5.0 is at least 275hp to the rear wheels(is that even possible with naturally aspirated 5.0 and no nos?)
as of right now, like i said the 95 isa a stripped shell. before i start buying all the v8 parts, im going to buy all the body parts i need(doors, bumpers, trunk, ect) then i will start saving up for monster miatas 4k kit, then proceed with engines and parts. here is my newly aquired project.
so there you have it. So McCully Racing will be getting some business from me eventually, as well as Monster Miata. =)
