Hey all, my name's Nate. I just joined the site today and thought I'd introduce myself. I've loved cars all my life since sitting in my dad's old '70 GTO in the garage as a kiddo. I've always worked on my own cars and for the most part am self taught - the hard way. You take it apart, make sure everything looks like it's supposed to be that way, then pray that it goes back together and works! Some of the fun cars I've had include an '80 Z28 Camaro (my first), a '00 Escort ZX2 S/R, an '89 RX7 turbo, and a '92 mustang. Well eventually I figured it out and now I make my living working for a Mazda dealership in Austin, TX.
I recently moved out here to Austin from Michigan with my wife of almost 2yrs now, Kari. Leading up to the wedding and the big move, the time and finances needed for a project car just weren't there. I haven't had a toy car in a few years now and I think it's about time that changed! I've been brainstorming for months about what I wanted out of a car and a project and I keep coming back to the idea of a v8 miata.
Considering the budget I'll be on I've decided the best route for me to go is a 5.0 NA miata junkyard dog that I can slowly improve as time goes on. I plan on picking up a few conversion kit parts to make my life easier, but the cheaper I keep it the sooner I can start driving it! So right now I'm still just doing a lot of reading. I've gotten the OK from the Mrs. to start putting away funds, and I'm going to be as prepared as possible when I finally get started.
