Postings are getting slim
It appears that we are not getting very many new postings. I would hope that everyone involved with V8 Miata swaps would keep the board lively. I know certain questions can be asked and answered just so many times but surely some of you more experienced guys have some words of wisdom to share. You must have some time saving tips, parts sources, money saving ideas or just some words of encouragement for the rest of use.....MORE PICTURES WOULD BE GREAT!! Photos of swaps in progress and/or finished cars is always inspirational.

I have to agree with this!
I'm admittedly VERY new, when it comes to working on cars in general, not just Miata related. As of this point i have very little if anything to contribute other than questions, so i cant say that I'm going to post often either.
However, the very limited knowledge i have has come from reading the posts of others on various forums over the last year or two. Whether its related to any issue of mine or not, all the random info i pick up is helpful at some time or another. And even if its not helpful, who doesn't like more V8 Miata pictures?
maybe one day when Ive been at this for a while I'll have something to contribute, until then, thanks guys for any reading material!

Many of us have been doing this for years. We've posted up our pics several times over (other forums). I'd like to see more from the guys doing current builds. I can't wait to get mine buttoned up from my exhaust redesign and back on the road. That damn car is so much fun to drive.
Old guys, I know that you've seen these. New guys, here is what not to do:
These may give you guys some ideas for exhaust.

I was figuring I'd start posting pics and updates as soon as I start the "fun stuff" on this new build. I figured no one wants to see the prep work again since I've posted that part of the builds three times already. If I'm wrong let me know and I'll post some pics of wires, rust removal, the growing pile of parts in my basement and donor cars in yards (the last 6 months of my "build" process).

Your website is very helpful! Ive read through a lot of it many times, and I'm sure I'll refer back to it a lot!
Its just nice to get feedback when you've got questions (even if they are dumb questions) A lot of the time i can probably figure it out myself, but when your new to this its kind of nice to have someone confirm if your on the right path or totally off.
I find reading through (pictures help lots) build threads is quite helpful. At the very least it gives me a better understanding of how things go together. I didn't build my car, i bought it, so i don't have any experience with the build. I'm fairly certain there will come a time when i will have to pull it apart for various reasons, having some pictures and info to go off makes me feel a lot more comfortable.
I do understand a lot of work goes into making a build thread, so i don't see the need to keep going over the same things. Its really helpful just to have some of you guys around to ask questions sometimes, and i for one appreciate any effort you make!

My Offering
At this point I can only offer this suggestion. When I was a much younger man I built many hot rods. During that time I learned that before you begin a project do RESEARCH, RESEARCH and finally RESEARCH!! This will save you tons of time and money in the longrun. This includes picking the brain of others who have done similar projects as well as any written material you can find. Over the past 6 months in preperation for my swap I have read everything I could find, looked at every web cite regarding the swap, parts, tools, etc.
I have acquired my T56 with attachments for backup lights, and reverse lockout and speed sensor. I have stocked my garage with everything on my list of things I'll need (all the way down to ziplock bags and marker pens). You'll also find that no matter how complete you think your list is you will always run into the need for something you didn't anticipate. I have arranged to use equipment of friends; like engine hoist, trans jack, engine stand.
I'm using the BossFrog kit with a Gen1 small block. I know this will require some additional modifications but that's my choice.
One thing you have to keep in mind is that this is a Marathon not a Sprint. Also remember that whatever Swap Kit you use there will be problems that arise and will have to be dealt with.....NOTHING IS A BOLT IT IN AND START IT UP swap.
I roll my car into the garage this weekend and begin the taredown process......I'm excited to really start some real hands on work. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!!!!

The actual V8 Miata (of All kinds) community (Hands on, builders, owners) is really not that big. You can get really big responses and unqualified opinions when you open it up to just anyone if that's what you want. There are plenty of examples right now.
It's really pretty amazing to me and from what I've personally experienced that as many V8 Miata people participate as much as they do. I think it speaks to the passion & enjoyment they feel, I sure do!
