What are Lannys alignment specs and what specs do you run?

Default What are Lannys alignment specs and what specs do you run?

I saw a very interesting post talking about 0 camber in a Miata being better for acceleration than whatever Lannys alignment specs are. So I was wondering what Lannys specs are and what you guys run for alignment.

Post up what your suspension is, what your specs are, what you do with the car to pick those specs and your imprissions of it. I'll go first.

My suspension is Spec Miata with 700 lb front, 350 lb rear and Bilstein shocks valved for track use.

My alignment is Front +5 Caster -1.8 Camber 0 toe, back -1.6 camber 0 toe.

Chosen as a balance between DD street driving and autocross use.

Tire wear is surprisingly uniform. On a skid pad the back lets go before the front but the oversteer is not bad at all. I will probaby bump those camber numbers a bit this year and see what happens.

Here's the link to "Lanny's" alignment. I've seen this referenced over and over for the last 15 years (so it seems) and I thought I'd give it a try. Driven it about 10 miles with the alignment and all seems well just starting out!

Miata Alignment Specs You can find this in the GARAGE section of M.net by the way...

FM V8 sway, FM VMaxx (simple ones), Poly bushings in V8R A-arms, 15x8" with 25mm backspacing with 225/45 rubber.

I remember seeing that page now that I see it again. -1.75 is a lot of camber in the back for a street car.

I had to laugh at the word “precision alignment”. Few drivers short of experienced race car drivers in a race car could feel the difference in .2 of camber and you can align a car to the .009s and drive around the block and it will read different on the machine.

Good stuff thanks Pat! Hope to hear from more guys here.

I am using the "kit" springs on front & uncut factory Miata springs on the rear. They are mounted to Koni Yellow struts. Also have urethane bushings, Racing Beat tubular front bar & solid rear bar both with adjustable end links.

I use the car for a weekend cruiser (when I drive it).

The alignment specs are: Front camber 0*
Front caster as far positive as I can get
Front toe 1/8" toe-in
Rear camber 0*
Rear toe 0
Car seems to handle well & has no signs of tire wear.
I chose these alignment setting because I am running a staggered tire set-up with directional tires, thus tire rotations will not happen unless the tires are broken down & switched from side to side.
