The hardest part is making the driveshaft work and fabbing up a trans mount.

Miataroadster might have just a transmission output flange or know a way to get it.

Yeah it's just not worth doing it that way. Maybe I will see if I can get a Miata one cheap for now..

None. You'll have to have your Miata hubs rebroached to mathc the larger Ford sline pattern. You'll also have to come up with some type of transmission crossmember to replace the stock PPF.

Default 8.8 swap

i am new to this forum so please understand if it takes me a while to get it right. My friend and i have put a 302 in our miata and are ironing the bugs out of it. We put it on the track last month but trans. problems kept us from really doing well. We are wanting to put a ford 8.8 in it but the kits are expensive. Does anybody have any ideas on doing it with out a kit?

Martin of Monster Miata sells what looks like a complete Ford 7.5 limited slip rear end including the diff itself for $1000. Even if it does not included the diff that's pretty good and a lot cheaper then the 8.8 kits.

I've used 7.5's in all 4 of my builds without any problems. The most recent is putting out 311 foot pounds of torque.

My 7.5 is holding up well. When I was a Ford technician, I rarely EVER saw any failures in 7.5 differentials. I rebuilt so many 8.8's, that I purchased my own set of Ford "special tools" to set them up properly (got tired of hunting down the dealerships set from around the shop....time is money).
