Hard top only?
#4
Ya know, I believe that there was one offering with hardtop only - the Club Sport in '01 or so. Very few of these came in the US. I think they were only offered in white. I knew a girl in Seattle who had picked one up used when it was about 2 yrs old.
So, back to the OP, 99.9% over the past 20+ yrs had soft tops

Yeah, they made a coupe fixed roof, but pretty sure they were JDM spec only, in RS form, rear and expensive, $20,000 USD or higher from the ones I have seen.
Have been contemplating bringing on here and doing a conversion on it, just for the rarity if nothing else, but to be honest, I don't think Mazda did a very good job on them.
It wasn't like the car was redesigned to be a fixed roof coupe, they just basically weilded a tin top to the body, so it still has the extra strengthing in place for the convertible (making it heavier than the convertible, instead of lighter) and all the rear parcel shelf etc is still in place like it would be if you just removed the softtop, so looks a bit random behind the drivers seat. However they do look awesome.

here is about the only information that I can find on them, I think the limited run was about 1000 cars in japan
Mazda Roadster Coupe
Mazda Engineering and Technology Co. Ltd. (Mazda E&T), a division of Mazda Japan, produced a limited run of Mazda Roadsters for the Japanese market with a permanent fixed hardtop roof. The body structure was reworked to incorporate the roof for a substantial increase in chassis rigidity and a weight increase of 10 kg. A range of models were produced, from a basic 1.6 L version, to heavily restyled boutique models. No Roadster Coupes were exported, though an example upgraded to Mazdaspeed specifications was shown to international audiences.

And here is an articule that was done on the NA concept coupe, so Mazda were playing around with the idea for a while, dunno why the didn't make the NA coupe, or export the NB coupe.
