Default Cooling Fan solution

Don has been in need of a cooling fan upgrade from the get go. The tiny fan from PRC was only about 800cfm and wasn't enough for hot summer days in stop in go. Don purchased the Derale 16214 fan http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DER-16214/ and the LS2 water pump to make room for it without moving the radiator. I was impressed with how much room the ls2 waterpump really gave us. I'd say its close to 3 inches!

The fan is a two speed so with an extra relay added, you can use the GM PCM to control the two speed easily.

Here are some pics.

Does your fan have a time delay after the engine is shut down? If so, what did you use and where did you get it. Mine really gets hot after shut down as the computer shuts the fan off.

Yes but it's not the fan that does that, it's the GM PCM. I can set the after run temp and duration.

I have a 2010 GmPerformance off road harness and a E38 computer. It is wired with a hot lead from the key only so it turns off when stopped.

well there's your problem. I may be wrong but I think GMPP calls out atleast one constant 12v source. All the production vehicles have that.

Mine is a off road harness sold by GMPerformance for hot rods. No constant power. I'll have to develop a secondary circuit for the fan with a delay timer in it.
