Wire Harness hole

Wire Harness hole
Yay, snow day up here today. Roads closed, most places are closed. I get to tinker today.
On the agenda is more engine bay stuff. First up is the hole for the Ford wiring harness. I don't have AC and the car has a couple filler grommets where the AC holes are. I was about to make the first cut for the hole and I thought, why not use the existing AC holes. There seems to be no downside that I can see to just carving out those holes since they won't ever be used for anything. It will bring the harness about 2 inches closer to the engine, but from studying pics, it looks to still be plenty of space.
What do you guys think?

I'm near Grand Bend in SW Ontario. Crazy cold and blustery today.
Talked to Martin about the hole. He'd never done one that way but thought it was a good idea. I did it and it looks like it will work. Got some work done with the rad mounting too. Now off to a Chinese Hot Pot dinner. perfect day for that.
