Wiring Harness Question
I picked up a 5.0 motor, howerver the wiring harness is from an 89 f150. Would this harness be okay to modify or would it be better or is it needed to get a mustang harness. Im new and learning.

Hey welcome to the fun! I don't have an answer to your question but lots of guys here will. Seems to me the wiring harness wouldn't know or care if it was in a truck or a go kart and still do what it does but there must be a reason guys use Mustang stuff. Anyway welcome to the forum! I hope you'll post up and intro thread and a build thread so we can meet you and enjoy the build with you.

If you are planning on using a MAF (mass air flow) set-up, the F-150 did not come with it. The harness could be easily adapted for it. Hell, it's only wire & plugs. The hard part is making sure that the pins (connections at the computer) are in the correct location. I am sure that a few will have to be moved around if you are installing a Mustang computer.

This site may have some helpful info, but I think the original site has been taken down. I remember some of the trucks had differences that were significant, like firing order, batch fire versus sequential, etc

From experience, the 5.0's in the F150 are quite different between years. They look the same but the electronics are completely different. I found that out swapping one from a newer F150 into an 88. The engines looked the same but when it came time to plug up the wiring harness, it was totally different. I later found out that the firing order was totally different. I don't really know how much this comes into play with your original question, but if it was me, I would get a mustang harness and not play the guessing game.
