Default Wtb: sorted miata monster

I am looking at a local miata but thought I should see if I could shake anyone from the trees. The local one was mainly hand built and maybe that's why I am not totally sold on it. I am a bolt on kind of guy not an engine re and re. I wasn't in a position to buy Vic's car but after I took it for a drive it really wasn't for me. I wish it were on track days, but on non track days, I want to drive it to work or Sunday or once in a while, that car is a monster in every sense of the word. I live in a place with tons of snow right now so I don't need it right away but soon. Maybe may 2014 at the latest. I live 24 hours north of Vegas.

I don't mind if it needs cosmetics either interior or paint or body work.

My ideal car is this:
  1. Sorted. Driven at least 2k miles, or more.
  2. Lower power levels = cheaper price (?), is good to me. Stock is great.
  3. Ideally ps and brakes.
  4. Manual trans.
  5. 1990-1999
  6. Sporty mods for road racing the better, but not needed.
  7. Prefer fords due to pricing
  8. Not needing major mechanical items/sorting/assembly (engine/trans) work
  9. Fuel injection is preferred, but not mandatory.
  10. Stock computer or very easy to tune computer.Had a jrsc with a link. No one in town or the Western Hemisphere could tune it.
Oh and newer kit the better (things seem better evolved as time has gone by).

Here are three I am thinking of pricing:
1 $16k
Awesome for me, but out of my budget. So would need more mileage and less nice.

2 $10k
Perfect apart for the trans needing work:
1994 Monster Mazda Miata M Edition 5 0 Ford V8 Convertible | eBay
3 $14k
Almost perfect but need price down a bit and owner to get back to me....

I've got two coming up for sale soon as it appears we will be moving and four of my 7 cars will be up on the selling block. Both are Monster Miatas and built right.

1992 (white) can be seen in my rebuild thread here on the forum. 50,000 miles on the conversion, 300 miles on the fresh rebuild ($18,000)

1991 (Mariner Blue) can also be seen on the road trip thread on this forum. 6,000 miles on the conversion, 2,000 of which happened in the last ten days . Original steering wheel has been installed (wood wheel included if you want it), wood trim has been removed. Mechanicals and new top to be gone through and done by the end of next week. What I do with the body has yet to be determined other than closing the holes in the trunk lid from the original fast and furious rear wing. ($14,000),

Both cars are southern, rust free, and in nice shape. White car needs nothing, blue car will need some PDR (paintless dent repair) and minor cosmetics in it's future if you want to show it, nothing if you want to just get in and drive. And has been proven, can be driven cross country without any issues

PS: Your #1 car has been sold for $17,000. I know the new owner, he is not selling it any time soon, #2 was offered $10,500 and turned it down, wants $12,500 needing a new transmission, new leather seat covers, and paint (there are other items this car needs, but I have not personally viewed the car). I have no experience with #3, not the kit, nor the seller.

PSS: My sound advice is to save more money, for the ones that need major work and are priced substantially less, usually cost you twice as much in the long run........My other advice is to stay away from anything with rust, as rust happens from the inside, and eats it's way out like a cancer.

Default Could be interested..

Mrmustang, I could be interested in your blue V8. I'm in Nevada, so you're a bit far but if the car is priced well I can loop in a visit to east-coast relatives. Any car I get must have A/C (summers are HOT here). Also, must either (1) be 1994 or older with an engine no older than car, or (2) be able to pass emission tests. Let me know when you're ready to sell, please.

They both are primed for AC, I sent the OP a PM this morning pointing him to your custom Ford compressor to Mazda AC system lines

Just picked up a blue one in calgary. There are like 5-10 in town. This was converted in 2002, with 100's of photos, documented on m.net etcetera. Sadly has rust but but factored that into the price. Wasn't planning on this one but price was too good to pass up and was a quick purchase. saw it and bought saturday. and I want the monster body kit anyway so I would want to paint anything in the future. I will post up shortly.
